A little bit about me

I like to say that I took the “long way around” to the life I was meant to live. Born and raised as the girl I was not, I struggled with anger, depression and social difficulties that interfered with my ability to use my intelligence for anything productive. It wasn’t until I began gender transition in my early 30s that I began living up to my potential. Today, I am pursuing my Masters in mental health counseling at the New School in New York City while earning a living as a freelance writer and life coach for young adults.

Why I love what I do

When I was a teenager, I was lonely, depressed and angry, and nobody really knew how to help me. It wasn’t until I began to explore my gender identity in my early 30s that I was able to start putting together a life that matched what I was capable of and wanted for myself.

Today, I’m very grateful for the ability to make the difference for teenagers and young adults that I didn’t know how to make for myself. Through both my writing and coaching, I’m able to help young people reclaim some hope for themselves and build the futures they deserve.  It’s amazing to know that I make a real impact on the world and especially to know that I’m helping stem the tide of suicide, drug abuse and self-destructive behavior that is cutting too many kids’ lives short before they really begin.
